These are examples of creations that were made out of an exotic wood called BALATA also referred to as Massaranduba, this wood comes from very large trees spanning up to 48″wide & 150′ tall. This wood has a deep reddish tint to it giving it a naturally beautiful color.
It comes from an Island called Dominica located by the West Indies. This island is also the island that Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed on. My brother and his family live on this Island and I had the opportunity to visit and bring back some small pieces of reclaimed local woods.
