Bloodwood

These creations are examples of jewelry made from Bloodwood. This distinctive deep red colored wood is found in Central and Latin America. This extremely hard wood is somewhat difficult to work with however polishes nicely and is a naturally beautiful wood all on its own. There is no stain on this wood. It is sanded and buffed only. Many exotic woods are from over seas and are their country’s natural hardwoods. Therefore, they are used in many applications. This wood was reclaimed from a pallet found in Erie, Pennsylvania and the supply is very limited.

This is also the wood I chose for a few different celebrity creations when I have had the ability to present them with a gift, including Ty Pennington from Extreme Home Makeover.
