A personal journey with friends prompted me to preserve the memory for each of us. For almost 8 months myself and some friends have been on a journey that has most certainly been way more than about running a race! For most of us we will be running our first Half Marathon. Dedication, obedience, training when you don’t feel like it and resting when you don’t want to … Battling rain, snow, wind and extreme heat but most of all battling our minds!
I have not only grown closer to my husband and friends through support but I have grown stronger spiritually, emotionally and mentally . I have learned to embrace the journey and be happy with where I am on it.
So for my “Sole Sisters” I made them each a pendant with a stainless washer In which I hand stamped “strength” referring to Philippians 4:13. Because it is only through Gods strength that we are able to accomplish this! (Especially having had prior knee surgery, for myself I never thought this would be possible.)
On each piece I incorporated beach glass from the beaches of Presque isle to signify the place in which our Half Marathon is taking place. The 13.1 (being the distance in miles of the race) is removable so we can wear the “strength” in the final days of our training and then proudly add the 13.1 upon our accomplishment! For my friend who has done a half before and has so graciously inspired us with her knowledge and wisdom , I made a bracelet with a charm that says “inspire” along with her 13.1 .
We have trained, we are equipped, we have been blessed. We got this!!
I will add to this blog post once we have all completed the last leg of this journey on Aug. 17th:)
We did it!!!
Words cannot describe the feeling if completing my first half marathon! What an amazing journey! Thankful for my husband running with me and pacing me along the way. I was so glad to have experienced this with him as we as all my friends!
