Preserving a life Journey and a special dogs memory

This creation was really unique and a challenge to create. Some very interesting meaningful items were incorporated into this custom piece.

It started with a wine cork my client found shortly after the loss of her dog. The cork, interestingly enough said “woof woof” on it. it was from a wine company out of Virginia. She only buys California wines so she found it odd. My client decided she wanted something made out of it to remember her dog. Being a dog owner and lover myself I understood.
After our initial meeting we talked about also incorporating some other personal items that she had that were nonfunctional sitting on her jewelry box.
Her baby bracelet, a set of peals and several charms and earrings to name a few.
She also brought along some crystals from an old chandelier she had and…… This is where it gets challenging. A bag. her dogs plastic dog food bag.  At first I didn’t know what to think but as I gave it much thought and prayer the logo on the bag kept standing out to me. It reminded me of a journey which was very symbolic of all the items my client had for me to work with from her childhood to the present day.

I hand wired each piece and the creation began to come to life as I used the bag logo as the focal pendant. I mounted the logo on a piece of driftwood from Presque Isle State Park where her and her dog took many walks together. From there I cut the cork on 4 prices using each of the ends for earrings and the larger two pieces as additional pendants.

Incorporating several wire colors on the earrings and throughout the necklace, it tied all of her items together in an eclectic yet flowing manner.

The final piece is a stunning, one of a kind meaningful and wearable piece of art, that serves as a keepsake in memory of her dog and her journey. She was absolutely taken back by all the items that were incorporated into her new keepsake. She put it on right away and couldn’t wait for people to inquire about its uniqueness and the meaning behind it.

This creation was truly challenging and amazing to watch as it transformed. I felt like a vessel being worked through as I prayed about it each step of the way. I was surprised myself at the final product as I truly believe my creativity comes from my creator and I am always amazed. I was honored to preserve these treasures and my clients memory of her dog as she entrusted me to make her a lifetime keepsake for her to cherish for years to come.
