Family bead necklace

Each creation I make is one of a kind due to the diversity of the materials I use, but this creation is truly one of a kind specific to this family!

My client approached me in regards to making a special necklace for her Mother. A necklace that would have beads representing each member of her family, to include; Children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition, her mother loves Barns, so she also inquired about the possibility of utilizing any local barn wood that I might have. After thought and prayer I decided to create a cross pendant out of some local (Erie, Pa.) barn wood from the Nicholson farm. To have additional significance, and to make the design flow, I  decided to incorporate copper beads surrounded by copper spacers representing the immediate family. Two slightly larger copper beads on either side of the cross representing Mom and Dad, then 7 smaller copper beads within the necklace, representing their children. I then had fun finding 25 individually unique beads representing each of the extended members of her family~ the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

This Mother/Grandmother/Great-grandmother now has a meaningful, one of a kind necklace to hold her entire family near and dear to her heart.
