Who would have ever thought?

I am always telling people to think outside of the box when wanting to preserve the meaning of special times in their lives. Well, this was a first! A Mother had trimmed off some of the branches of the apple tree her kids used to climb when they were young. They no longer lived on the property where this special Apple tree stood, but the childhood memories remained. She had heard about the custom creations I make with peoples own personal items and inquired if there was any possibility of making anything from these branches for her, now grown, sons. After thought and prayer I created two similar necklaces using the branches as a simple pendant on a leather cord. I cut the branches into two pieces and grooved the two to fit together with cord to hold them in place, and wood oil to hold their integrity. They now each have a piece of their childhood, preserved in a functional way, to have for years to come.
